CopyRight

What is Copyright?
-Copyright is when the person who originally created his or her work gives permission for others to use it. The creator has exclusive rights to their product but for only a certain period of time. For example, when an artist wants to sing another artist's song they have to ask permission to the songwriter to use the original song and make it their own. Through the internet, however copyrighted materials are different. They are exceptions to the rule because everyone uses the Internet. If a person uses another person's work and it's been copyrighted that person could face legal charges because they stole that other person's work. An example of this would be when the famous author J.K. Rowling announced that she would not write any more books based on the Harry Potter series. A few months after the last book came out, a writer wrote his own continuation of the story using the Harry Potter characters. He did not ask J.K. Rowling for permission to write his book and because of that he "stole" her work and is now facing legal charges. The copyright symbol is ©.

Expectations

-My expectations for this class is to learn how to design effects on the web. I expect that in some projects we will have to use some of our background knowledge of mulitimedia. For example, animation working with layers and masks, we used this in Photoshop CS3.Another thing that I think we will learn is how to use html codes and the different types of codes there are.
- I can expect from my peers is that we learn from each other, those who are better in certain skills will help other people. I hope that we'll work in groups because our projects will come out much better and more creative than if we worked alone. I expect that by the end of the semester I will be able to make my own website and be able to teach others how to build a web site.
